KEEPING PENNSYLVANIA'S SELF-INSURED COMPANIES INFORMED

The 2018 PSIA Annual Meeting opened on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the Wyndham Gettysburg with an inspiring presentation by Hector Picard, who encouraged all to “Don’t Stop Living.” As Leslie Gianetta, Coordinator of Workers' Comp Development at UPMC Centers for Rehab Services remarked, “It was fantastic! It was also really nice how he tied the workers’ compensation piece into his story.”

After Hector’s presentation, Abraham Lincoln joined everyone in the Exhibit Hall for our Welcome Reception, where attendees were treated to food, drinks, and an opportunity for networking with our members, exhibitors, and sponsors.

Monday began with a legislative update led by Alex Halper, PA Chamber of Commerce Director of Government Affairs, followed by the PA Bureau of Workers’ Compensation update by Bureau Director Scott Weiant. Presentations on Mental Wellbeing in the Workplace, Conditional Payment Liens, and Wearables, as well as more opportunities for networking during the morning break and lunchtime, rounded out the program.

Betsy Richards, Claims Manager for the University of Pittsburgh, summed up her experience of the 2018 Annual Meeting with the comment, “I loved it all.” She was particularly impressed with the legal updates and the Bureau update and stated, “They did a good job updating us on what is happening now.”
