Michael P. Galterio | Vice President
Michael Galterio is the Assistant Director of Guest and Team Member Safety for Eat’n Park Hospitality Group Inc., a multi-divisional foodservice provider spanning 14 states and employing 7,500 team members.
Michael has worked for Eat’n Park Hospitality Group since 2006 and started as a Manager within the company’s restaurant division. In 2010, he was promoted to a role within the company’s Corporate Support Center, auditing the restaurant division for food safety practices and corporate standards. In 2015, Michael took over the workers’ compensation program and obtained his Workers’ Compensation Professional Certification (CWCP) in 2016. In 2019, his scope of work expanded to include general liability claims. In 2016, he Joined the Board of Directors with GPECC (Greater Pittsburgh Executive Claims Counsel) and became a member with PSIA. He holds certifications with OSHA and certification in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). Michael is also a certified instructor for the American Red Cross, MenuTrinfo’s food allergy program and ServSafe’s food safety training. These certifications and credentials help Michael ensure the safety for our guests and team members. His commitment to serving and protecting others comes as no surprise to those who know Michael, as he served almost 8 years with the United States Marine Corps where he completed two tours in Iraq as a Motor Transport Operator.
In 2020 during the COVID-19 Pandemic, Michael led the development of the COVID-19 Response Plan, which resulted in a thriving organization post pandemic. During the pandemic, Michael helped develop protocols for handling potential exposure, contact tracing and worked with health officials across the company’s footprint to ensure the safety of guests and team members as the business shifted from dine in, to take out only and then again to dine in over a short period of time. Also, during that time, Michael remained focused on enhancing safety across the organization. As such, he implemented Root Cause Analysis Meetings which require sites to do a deeper dive into any workers’ compensation claim that required medical treatment to drill down to the root cause of the incident. These finding are reviewed with senior leadership and then communicated out to the organization to help other sites learn from each incident in an effort to help avoid future accidents. This among other Safety initiatives, such as Safety on Site, a quarterly video podcast where Michael travels to one of the organizations locations to talk about best safety practices, has led to a decrease in the companies overall frequency rates.
Mike resides in Moon Township Pennsylvania with his wife and three daughters.
